Bit of a dump this week, as I've not really been in here much lately. I've had yet another move around and four days later I still like it so thats gotta be a record. On my desk is a new stamp and two fluid chalks I got out of the bargain bin at Crafty Bunch in Ketley on Saturday and a sheet of playing with a V&A quilt stamp I also bought (cos it was reduced n ive had my eye on it for a while). Other than that is the remains of an attempt to get me a commission (altho I doubt I'll charge her cos I'm too nice!) for some wedding invites. I made some examples of favour boxes along the theme of a cupcake and while I was trying to give my sales pitch she decided she liked the idea to use the one design as the invite, if I could make it thinner so after a couple of botched attempts, I managed to produce this:
But here is where the plea comes in... I'm really at a loss for how to decorate it! The original image looks like this which I think looks more like a kiddies party than a wedding invite n its kind of coloured my way of looking at it so all the things I picture in my head seem a bit lame! Any ideas?
Cuz, there are some digi cupcakes at I Brake for Digis that are a bit more elegant- one has a bow and one has a banner on it that you could print names on or Invitation or something? Not a sales pitch honestly......:)
ReplyDeleteI just wonderded if you used white card and some flowers, but may be that's too obvious!

mm white or frosted card and little flowers in bridal colours and bling sounds a good way to go..I love bling on wedding things..and a label may not go astray too..if you have any label dies? Don't you hate a creative block? love seeing your work desk, first timer and it is fun.:) Shaz in Ozx. #22
ReplyDeleteI was also thinking of white, pearlised or maybe even embossed card in pale colours. More scope to embellish, and also ask what the wedding colours are too. Good luck.

I agree with what's already been said, and just another thought, you could use an edge punch to give the layers a pretty edge, The MS loops works well, i used it on a dimensional card box cake i made.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it.

Go on You Tube, I am sure you will find some wonderful ideas there.

"cos it was reduced n ive had my eye on it for a while" I love when that happens!
ReplyDeleteIs the bride set on that color? I like what butlers abroad said "white, pearlised" and instead of sprinkles maybe pearls and white or cream mini roses. Elegant it up a bit.
I think the white and pearls and a spot of bling would be nice in the brides colors. I am a glitter girl...ask my family who all wear the stuff! I love the new crushed glass glitter. Very elegant.
ReplyDeleteBusy looking desk. Nothing like finding a bargain when you are shopping!.
ReplyDeleteGreat lookking desk - I think maybe a bit a white or cream and ribbon with bling , it thats the colour the bride likes use it for the cupcake base ~ Nicky 45
ReplyDeleteI would go for white or cream maybe with sparkles and a bit of black ribbon for contrast, sometimes keeping it simple is the best thing to do.
ReplyDeleteHmm, so you do get messy sometimes! I'll try and think of something for the cupcake and let you know.
ReplyDeleteLove your ribbons storage on the window ledge, is there any white ribbon in there with a bit of bling for your project?
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks all creative and crafty! I agree with what others have said, white and pearls and maybe a couple coloured pearls (whichever colour the bride is using) mixed in. Can't wait to see what you will come up with!

I love the cupcake design very different. I'm sure you will come up with something fantastic to finish it up.
